I'm finding this morale attacking result difficult to visualize
"-30% Unit advances but swerves away to the full extent of its move when approaching to within 50 mm 22 of enemy."
Wouldn't this result in a unit turning and thus exposing it's flank to the target enemy unit....harsh.
Hopefully someone with an original copy of P&P will be able to help here as there is an obvious typo in the John Curry book.
Melee rule 8a ALTERNATE MOVE. The player moving second may move away from an attack if his troops are more than 14 move away....!
Should that be 1/2 move or 14"?
Thanks
Martyn

1) I'm sure there is no misprint, the 22 is in fact 2" ie 2inches. Yes it is harsh but it occurs when a unit has failed the morale test in a big way so not unreasonable.
2) Here there is a misprint. 3/4 must be intended here as light troops can evade "even" if only a half move away so the intended figure must be more than 1/2.

Yes 22 was my mis typing sorry 2" is correct, however I'm really not too sure about this swerve I think I'll play it as 'remains halted but becomes disordered needing rallying.' I hope such revisionism won't get me chucked out of the Brownies.
On skirmishing it would seem to favour the player moving second.
Moving on, how are you classifying the protection of your troops for Zama...for example there seems to be two mail shirt and shield categories 1/2 armour & shield mail shirt what's the difference between this and mail shirt and shield?
I'm fighting Trebia using P&P down my club tomorrow as part of our pre Zama preparation, below is how we're going to deploy each unit will be 4 dbmm size bases
Cheers

I interpret mail shirt as the medieval type that comes down to below the knees.
Hence a mail shirt on its own gives equal protection as 1/2 armor + shield.
The kind of mail worn in this period is really just a form of 1/2 armor and
linothrax I would count as leather armor.
